Research Scientist concentrating on data efficiency and strategic data generation for task-oriented dialogue systems and natural language understanding; Studied at Berkeley, Stanford and has graduated with a Computer Science masters degree from the University of Washington. Currently conducts research on data collection and learning with noisy labels at ASAPP. Derek's broad tech experience started out with typical business skills in web analytics and product management, and has evolved to include AI research skills around data pre-processing, model building, and interactive evaluation. Current workflow is now centered on LaTeX, PyTorch/TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas, and shell scripting for NLP research.
