I’ve co-authored a book and written a weekly column for the Washington Post, but the irony is I'm struck with a severe case of writers block when faced with a short LinkedIn summary! Why? I’ve spent my career helping others achieve success, not focusing on my own. So instead, let me share some of the beliefs that drive me. 1. Everyone wants to achieve, but they need a vehicle to do so. Could be sport, art, music, writing, but business is one of the most diverse vehicles for achievement. 2. Most individuals want to be a part of something bigger than themselves; because of our inherent human-ness, it’s easy to fall out of alignment and get distracted from the larger purpose. 3. A team isn’t there for its leader. Leaders exist to serve their teams. 4. We can learn something from every single person we work with. 5. Our world is complex enough. Make things simple and find clarity. I channel these beliefs into what I love to do. - Looking at an organization systemically to understand and activate the levers that will accelerate performance. - Leading and working with teams to solve complex problems of today, seize opportunities of tomorrow, and developing a plan for how to do both. - Helping senior leadership teams become better versions of themselves.
