Karyn Schwartz

Vice President at PhRMA

As a health policy expert with 15 years of experience, Karyn currently serves as a senior fellow at the Kaiser Family Foundation. She was previously a vice president of policy and research at PhRMA. She has designed research projects and conducted health policy analysis on issues related to the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and the 340B program. Karyn participates on panels to explain to diverse audiences the implications of regulatory changes. Her previous work spans the Department of Health and Human Services, Kaiser Family Foundation, and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. She has led cross-departmental teams and consultants, managing budgets of over $1M. Colleagues recognize her energy, determination, and ability to solve complex problems by driving consensus among stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Key Accomplishments: • Thought Leadership and Process Improvement: Spearheaded research studies and achieved stakeholder buy-in among key groups. Work contributed to several changes that will improve access to medicines. • Relationship Building: Pitched project to KFF senior leadership to partner with the American Cancer Society. Secured a $40K grant to build case for reforming insurance system and created an enduring partnership.
