Engineering Lead, Video Innovations at FuboTV

Software engineering manager and technical lead offering over 9 years of experience developing mobile and web properties from conception to completion. Most recently, I’ve been developing and maintaining large scale video encoding platforms. I attribute my ability to think dynamically, allocate available resources efficiently, and deliver consistently to my years in the United States Marine Corps, from which I was honorably discharged holding the rank of Sergeant and the billet of Infantry Squad Leader. Since 2016, I have been working in the OTT video space having touched nearly every aspect of streaming media. I started with client players, building a shared Swift library to be used in iOS/tvOS apps that decoupled the UI from the player. I gained an understanding of how players function at scale for linear and vod content. As fuboTV matured, we realized that the majority of consumption was moving to "Connected Devices". I rebuilt fuboTV’s entire tvOS platform from the ground up eventually growing a team of engineers & product designers intent on taking the TV experience to the next level for linear sports content. While building and managing the AppleTV app I took an interest in Roku and learned some Brightscript. I was then given the opportunity to both manage & grow our AppleTV and Roku teams. Upon receiving the responsibility of managing the Roku app we rewrote major pieces of the application, mainly surrounding playback and networking calls. As of late 2018 I now leverage the experience I have from both the player and the connected device applications and have been able to take our VOD video encoding and packaging pipeline processes in-house. I spend my days doing research with ffmpeg, understanding ISO standards, building encoding workflows, managing spot AWS infrastructures, building Docker containers, and last but not least engineering software to seamlessly handle the many requirements that enable streaming VOD @ fuboTV. https://awesome.video
