Randy Escamilla, MPS, APR, has significant senior-level communications experience having worked in key sectors in both public relations and in journalism. Escamilla served as the Senior Management Analyst for the $15.6 million Communities Putting Prevention to Work program; the largest federally-funded anti-obesity initiative in Texas. He successfully managed the $1 million media and advertising budget for one of Texas' largest health initiatives utilizing strategic communications and marketing. Escamilla's effective strategies in new and traditional media grew the most visible initiative 167 percent from a baseline of 15,000 participants to more than 40,000 within five months. Men's Fitness Magazine also ranked San Antonio one of the nation's fittest cities during his tenure. Previously, he was Director of Public Relations for the largest group of women religious in Texas. His communications strategies raised $2 million in charitable contributions to prevent the spread of HIV to babies in Africa. Escamilla leveraged the nun's wide-range knowledge as SMEs on multiple topics and issues and increased stakeholder engagement and brand equity more than 100 percent. A veteran journalist, Escamilla worked as a TV news anchor and reporter. He previously spent 13 years at the NBC network affiliate in San Antonio, Texas. He also won the National Society of Professional Journalists Award for Best TV Documentary about the world's first nuclear weapon made in New Mexico. Escamilla holds a Master of Professional Studies degree in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. He is Accredited in Public Relations by the Universal Accreditation Board. Escamilla is the first Mexican American male to achieve the APR credential in the history of public relations.
