Since graduating from the Japanese department of the University of London I have lived in Japan for over twenty years, making this country effectively my second home. Being fully fluent in Japanese and being part of a Japanese family have provided me with deep insights into and a profound understanding of this country. During these 20 years I have been providing marketing services, including advertising, media, digital, activation, to mainly foreign companies in Japan. I’ve probably experienced all and every challenge a foreign enterprise can face here. Being internationally well connected I’ve been able to provide value by bringing fresh and novel ideas and practices from abroad to traditional and tested Japan ways of doing things, adopting them and making it happen. Somehow, I’ve also developed in a kind of diplomat good at explaining what works in Japan to numerous HQs abroad and helping them getting things done in Japan. My hobbies are Japanese literature (which I read in the original) and woodblock prints. I particularly appreciate modern and contemporary Japanese literature including Manga. Some years I’ve started a small collection of woodblock prints from the Meiji period and my focus is on the Sino- & Russo-Japanese war propaganda prints. A very niche genre which is mostly overlooked by other collectors. I would love to meet people you share the same interests.
