President and CEO at Beyond Type 1

Thom is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Type 1, a leading nonprofit organization changing what it means to live with diabetes. Prior to becoming CEO in 2018, he served for three years as COO. Through platforms, programs, resources, and grants, Beyond Type 1 is uniting the global diabetes community and providing solutions to improve lives today. Founded in 2015 with a focus on education, advocacy and the path to a cure for Type 1 diabetes, Beyond Type 1 has grown to also include programs for those with Type 2 diabetes. During his tenure as CEO, Beyond Type 1 has launched numerous high profile initiatives including the JDRF - Beyond Type 1 Alliance, BeyondType2.org, CoronavirusDiabetes.org and GetInsulin.org - and serves millions impacted by diabetes every month around the globe. A new model of philanthropy, Beyond Type 1 aims to change what it means to live with chronic illness. Beyond Type 1 was co-founded by Nick Jonas, Juliet de Baubigny, Sarah Lucas and Sam Talbot; the organization has the largest digital presence of any diabetes organization in the world. Before Beyond Type 1, Thom was responsible for building marketing, brand and content efforts at wikiHow.com, a global top 200 website devoted to education technology. Before wikiHow, he spent time in public relations, communications and event production for clients interested in working with lifestyle brands.
